Birth
Born on Akshaya Tritiya as the fifth son of Maharishi Jamadagni and Mata Renuka. His childhood name was Rama.

Devotion to Shiva
Through severe penance he pleased Lord Shiva, receiving from him the science of arms and knowledge of the divine weapons.

Receiving the Parashu
Lord Shiva granted him the axe named Vidyudabhi. It is this parashu that turned Rama into Parashurama.

The Test of Obedience
He obeyed his father's command against his mother, then asked as his boon that she be restored to life — obedience and devotion held together.

The End of Kartavirya Arjuna
After Sahasrabahu Kartavirya raided the ashram and seized the Kamadhenu, he brought that adharma to an end.

Penance on Mount Mahendra
He laid down his weapons and withdrew into penance on Mount Mahendra — restraint established after wrath.

The Gift of Land
He gave away every land he had won to Maharishi Kashyapa, and drew back the sea with his axe to raise the Konkan and Kerala coast.
